HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GENUINE ALLIGATOR ACCESSORY

Alligator has a well-deserved reputation for being a durable leather, but there are a few things you need to be aware of and avoid to ensure that your alligator product lasts a lifetime.

Things to avoid:

  • Extreme dryness or moisture
  • Water contact. Even though most people think “oh they live in the water so they can get wet” Not the case. The bombe finish on the bag or accessory can buckle and dull the finish and there is nothing you can do to make it come back so try to avoid water. IF your product does get wet, wipe it dry with a soft cloth and let it dry naturally and do not apply any heat.
  • Wipe bags with soft cloths only. A sheepskin mitt shines the skin nicely and will remove unwanted fingerprints. Avoid paper towels – the grains will scratch the surface.
  • Try not to handle the accessories with alcohol, hand lotion or any other product or oils on your hands.
  • Avoid direct sunlight on the bag for it may cause discoloration to tanned skins.
  • Never use any household cleaner on the surface of the product.
  • If in doubt, contact us or your exotic leather expert nearest you.

THINGS FOR A RETAIL STORE TO AVOID:

  • Glass Cleaners – Move your products away from the glass when you clean and allow it to dry before placing the bag back inside; the ammonia vapors can cause damage to the skin.
  • Display Lights – If you have lights above each display, make sure you do not put the bags too close and to use a low wattage bulb. Also do not display bags in a window with direct sunlight.
  • Steaming Iron – Move all exotics away from steaming irons.
